Terrace Ballroom, Salt Lake City, UT 4/1/70
Catalog No. MSO-TBR.1970.04.01
The Terrace Ballroom was located on South Main Street in Salt Lake City and was home to many concerts in the 60s and 70s. Bands such as Frank Zappa, The Grateful Dead, The Moody Blues, Janis Joplin, The Doors, Pink Floyd, and Led Zeppelin all played this venue. In the 30s, this venue was known as Coconut Grove and it was the largest ballroom in the United States. In the 40s, the name changed to the Rainbow Rendezvous, and finally in the 50s, it became the Terrace Ballroom. Due to its location in the heart of Mormon country—and the probable lack of any real psychedelic movement there—posters from the Terrace are scarce today.
This poster dates from April 1, 1970 when the Moody Blues took the stage at the Terrace Ballroom. This poster was printed in a small run of only 500 copies.
The original poster was printed on white stock and measures approximately 18 ¼" x 25 ¾"
