Marigold Ballroom, Fresno, CA 5/12/67
Catalog No. MSC-MGD.1967.05.12
The Grateful Dead and The Roadrunners performed at Marigold on Friday May 12, 1967. “In the Land of the Dark, the Ship of the Sun is Drawn by the Grateful Dead” references the Grateful Dead’s debut album and originates from a passage from the Egyptian Book of the Dead. There are three handbills created for this show! Type A has the album cover image and is busier than Type B, which has a Grim Reaper figure standing beside a tombstone that details the concert’s important information. A smaller image of the band appears beneath the Grim Reaper on this handbill. Type C is the same image as Type B but printed on orange stock instead of olive green.
The original Type A handbill was printed on light green and measures approximately 8½” x 11”.
The original Type B and C handbills were printed on olive green and orange stock respectively and measure approximately 8½” x 11”.
