Fillmore Auditorium 2/17-19/67

Catalog No. BG-50

At the time of this show, Frank Zappa and The Mothers of Invention was in the process of producing its second album, Absolutely Free, which eventually hit #41 on the Billboard Top 200 chart. Canned Heat and the popular Blues Project—which at the time still included Al Kooper—joined the band on the bill. Wes Wilson’s artwork is interesting, and the central figures look like they are made of stone.

The original poster was printed on vellum and measures approximately 13⅝″ x 20¾″.

The second print poster was printed on uncoated index stock and measures approximately 13⅝″ x 21¼″.

The postcard comes in three varieties, all of which measure approximately 5″ x 7″:

The Type A card has a “place stamp here” reverse.

The Type B card has a bulk rate permit on the back.

The Type C card has a bulk rate permit on the back and was mechanically addressed and sent to people on the mailing list.
