Fillmore Auditorium 12/16-18/66

Catalog No. BG-42

This poster advertised a show that took place shortly after Grace Slick joined the Jefferson Airplane - just in time to record the album, Surrealistic Pillow. In the late sixties, Jefferson Airplane was one of the highest-paid and most sought-after acts in the country. It is the only band to have performed at all three of the most famous American rock festivals of the sixties - the Monterey Pop Festival (1967), Woodstock (1969), and Altamont (1969).

The original poster was printed on white stock that varied between .0075″ and .0085″ and measures approximately 14″ x 22¼″. The background border is very dark purple with a blue tinge to it.

The second print poster was printed on white index stock and measures approximately 14″ x 22⅝″. The purple used on this reprint is brighter, and does not exhibit the blue tinge of the originals.

The original handbill used the same paper as the original posters and measures approximately 4½″ x 7⅜″. Some copies of the handbill were addressed and sent to people on the mailing list.

The postcard matches the second print poster and measures approximately 4½″ x 7½″.
