Fillmore West 4/9-12/70

The BG-227 poster is a slight departure from many of the pieces designed by David Singer. It is one of the few that was not done in a “framed” theme. We believe that this is one of the very best Singer designs. The central images of most Singer posters had little to do with the concerts they advertised, and this is no exception. The x-ray image of a hand holding a nautilus shell against a backdrop of the galaxies is classic.

The original poster was printed on glossy index stock and measures approximately 14″ x 21″.

The second print poster was printed on glossy index stock and measures approximately 14″ x 21″. There is a small script “w” after the notation “No. 227.”

The postcard has a calendar of Bill Graham events on the back and measures approximately 4⅝″ x 7″. Postcards do not have the red triangle in the center of the nautilus shell that is seen on the posters.

A double postcard was also printed. This card bears the images of both BG-227 and 228 and measures approximately 7″ x 9¼″. This card has a bulk rate permit on the back. In addition, some copies were addressed and mailed to people on the mailing list.
