A classic image from the Art of Rock, this poster promoted a concert by the New Riders of the Purple Sage at the Matrix. The Matrix was started by Marty Balin, one of the founding members of the Jefferson Airplane. Many shows were held at the Matrix over its six-year operation. The volume of posters and handbills produced for this venue is exceeded only by the Fillmore and Avalon.
There are two original versions of this poster:
The Type 1 original was printed on tan stock in black ink and measures approximately 11″ x 17″.
The Type 2 original was printed on tan stock in magenta ink and measures approximately 11″ x 17″.
