Avalon Ballroom 1/6-7/67
Catalog No. FD-42
There were 5,000 original posters printed of this Family Dog number. The central image is of a dancing woman surrounded by flowing, ribbon-like designs with band information in them. Like the FD-11 that Moscoso designed, this poster is not as colorful as his normal designs. For unknown reasons, the reprint of this poster is quite rare-much scarcer than the original. For this reason, the original is a bit more expensive, since any person trying to put together a set of images usually winds up with an original. This number in the Family Dog series also marks the first time that the smaller-sized image was printed on card stock. These cards were not printed on the same sheets as the posters, but were printed on separate sheets, four cards to a sheet. These cards are smaller than the later Family Dog cards, and are probably the rarest and most expensive cards in the series.
The original poster was printed on vellum and measures approximately 13″ x 19″. At the bottom of the poster, within the outlined ticket outlet strip, is a Union logo #72 and a “Double H Press” credit.
The second print poster was printed on uncoated index stock and measures approximately 13″ x 19″. The gold rectangle framing the ticket outlets has been eliminated and the Union logo and Double H credit have been deleted.
The original postcard was printed on thick stock, similar to that of the poster. It has a blank back and measures approximately 4″ x 6″.
