Avalon Ballroom 12/9-10/66
Catalog No. FD-38
This psychedelic poster incorporates the Native American from the Family Dog logo as the central image. Moscoso placed blue and red swirls over his eyes that match the background. Compared to the last Family Dog poster that Moscoso designed, the FD-36, this design takes a leap forward in the use of colors to convey the psychedelic experience to the viewer.
The original poster was printed on vellum and measures approximately 14″ x 18″. It is likely that two different groups of posters comprise the originals, but all originals carry the notation “The Bindweed Press San Francisco” in the lower right corner.
The second print poster was printed on uncoated index stock and measures approximately 14″ x 20″. The notation “No. 38-3” appears in the lower left corner.
The third print poster was printed on uncoated index stock and measures approximately 14″ x 20″. The notation “No. 38-4” appears in the lower left corner.
The original handbill was printed on thin white paper and measures approximately 8″ x 11″. These handbills are characterized by lighter to darker color variations.
