Fillmore West 2/5-8/70

Known as “The Mushroom Man,” this classic David Singer design advertised a Grateful Dead show at The Fillmore. Singer noted that the poster had a “. . . certain LSD mystique” with his collage of a man running towards the stars via the mushroom caps.

The original poster was printed on slick, glossy-coated index stock and measures approximately 14″ x 22″. Original posters have a faint vertical line in the right margin that is approximately 1⅜″ long, and begins approximately ¾″ below the center of the “d” in “Dead.” In addition, many original posters display a slightly darker tone to the ink in a vertical pattern on the right side.

The second print poster was printed on slick, glossy-coated index stock and measures approximately 14″ x 22″. This lacks the small print flaw seen on the originals.

The postcard has a calendar of Bill Graham events on the back and measures approximately 4⅝″ x 7⅛″.

A double postcard was also printed that bears the images of both BG-214 and 216 and measures approximately 7⅛″ x 9¼″. It has a bulk rate permit on the back. In addition, some copies were addressed and mailed to people on the mailing list.
