The post was created by local poster artist Dail Beeghly. Beeghly produced many classic psychedelic rock posters for The Doors, Janis Joplin and two other Hendrix concerts in the 1960s. Morrison spent some of his childhood in Alexandria, Virginia. Jim Morrison was estranged from his parents. His mother attended the show at the Hilton but Morrison refused to visit with her.

This is a beautiful 1967 psychedelic concert poster for the Doors at the Surf Club in Nantasket Beach. The Surf Club was home to many of the local boston acts of the 1960’s such as the Ultimate Spinach, Beacon Street Union and a host of other bands. The poster is printed on a thick poster stock and the artwork was by Ronn Rampiss. This psychedelic rock concert poster features a dark magenta purple ink on an orangish background. This was the second time the doors played the local area. The Doors played the Crosstown Bus Club in Brighton, Mass earlier in August.

This unusual Doors concert posters is for the Electric Circus New York City show held on August 1969. The poster was silkscreened and features a graphically striking image of Morrison. The poster is printed on heavier paper and the show was actually cancelled due to Morrison’s arrest in Miami in March of 1969. The Electric Circus was a hip night club spot in New York’s Greenwich Village.

This is Doors concert poster for their Ciro show is part of the Kaleidoscope concert series in 1967. The Doors concert at Ciro’s was held on the Sunset Strip between April 21-23, 1967. The Kaleidoscope concert series involved many of the greates rock groups of the 1960s which included the Grateful Dead and Jefferson Airplane and Sly and the Family Stone. This poster was designed in a circular fashion which was very unusual in the day. The poster is very psychedelic in style and uses The Doors first album cover layout as its background. The poster was printed on thinner stock paper.

This Doors concert poster is for the Kongresse Hall show in Frankfurt Germany held in September 1968. This was the Doors’ only Frankfurt Germany appearance while Jim Morrison was alive. The artwork was done by the world famous Gunther Kieser who is perhaps best known for his medusa like image of Jimi Hendrix on a concert poster printed in 1969. The poster was printed on fly paper and was meant to be pasted up on walls throughout town.

This concert poster advertises the second time The Doors performed at the Eagles Auditorium in Seattle,Washington. The poster has a great psychedelic image of a woman holding crystal ball with solarized photos of each Doors band member. The colors are very vibrant and the affect is very vibrant. The artist was Charles Moehring who was responsible for much of the psychedelic art for Seattle based concerts during the 1960’s.

Here is a very psychedelic concert poster advertising The Doors first ever performance in Seattle,Washington. The concert took place at the Eagles Auditorium which was the host of many great acts of the day such as The Grateful Dead, Jethro Tull, Big Brother and the Holding Company and many more. The Doors poster was silkscreened and comes in a few different split fountain combinations. It is printed on very thick poster board and represents the early development of the Seattle psychedelic poster scene. This would be one of two times that The Doors would play the Eagles Auditorium. They would return four months later to play for the second and final time.

This Doors concert poster is for the Cal State Long Beach in Long Beach California performance on December 1, 1967. The poster is very psychedelic and hand colored which was fairly common then. There were actually three or four different colored stock papers used to make these posters and handbills. I actually know one of the fellows responsible for putting on the show. The posters were hung up on the school campus and the local record stores.
