Avalon Ballroom 11/18-19/66
This poster is an interesting and patriotic-looking design from artists Mouse and Kelley. The central design is an old engraving of a hot air balloon with a man hanging by his waist underneath it. A globe covered with stars and numerous American flags are also hanging under the balloon. This poster has two original printings that are easily distinguished from each other, but it is unknown which was printed before the shows and which was printed just after. One of the originals has a bright red ink and the other is more of a brick red. If you have a preference, we usually have both types in stock, so please ask. In this case, all posters that carry the Bindweed credit are considered to be originals.
The original poster was printed on vellum and measures approximately 14″ x 20″. The notation “The Bindweed Press San Francisco” appears in the lower right corner.
The third print poster was printed on uncoated index and measures approximately 14″ x 20″. The notation “No. 35-3” appears in the lower left corner.
The original handbill was printed on thin paper and measures approximately 8″ x 11″.
