Avalon Ballroom 7/28-30/66
Known as the “Voice of Music,” this poster also features the unauthorized use of a company logo by Mouse and Kelley. The central image is the RCA Victor dog listening to the old Victrola record player. The only thing missing is the RCA victor slogan: “His Masters Voice!” The lettering on the poster was drawn in such a manner that it appears to be coming from the horn of the Victrola record player.
The original poster was printed on plain brown paper, not unlike a shopping bag. It is brown on both sides and measures approximately 14″ x 20″.
The second print poster was printed on white vellum and is white on the reverse. This poster measures approximately 14⅛″ x 19″ and carries the notation “No. 18-2” in the lower left corner.
The original handbill exists in three types, all printed on thin paper and measuring approximately 8″ x 11″.
Type A was printed on white paper in red ink.
Type B was printed on white paper in a brownish ink with a brown dot screen background.
Type C was printed on white paper in a darker shade of brown ink than Type B. This handbill has an off-red dot screen background which gives it a magenta coloring.
