Geary Temple, San Francisco, CA 4/2/66
Catalog No. MSC-GET.1966.04.02
The Geary Temple was a little-known rock venue on Geary Boulevard, just two buildings away from the famed Fillmore Auditorium. Several interesting shows were held here in 1966 and 1967. It ultimately became the headquarters of Jim Jones ' Peoples Temple - the congregation that committed mass suicide in Jonestown, Guyana in 1978. The first rock event we are aware of at the Geary Temple is this event presented by The Sacred Cow on April 2, 1966. Quicksilver Messenger Service, Big Brother & The Holding Company, P.H. Factor, and Our Mothers Children performed.
The original postcard was printed on yellow stock and measures approximately 6¼” x 4”.
