Avalon Ballroom 3/22-23/67
Designed by Victor Moscoso around a Fred Roth photograph, this is a very popular poster and one that is quite difficult to find as a first print. This is one of our favorite Moscoso designs, although it is not as well known as some of his more famous works.
The original poster was printed on white index and measures approximately 14″ x 20″. The stock used is unusually thick (.0095″ to .0100″) and the orange ink is darker than on the reprint.
The second print poster was printed on white index stock and measures approximately 14″ x 20⅛″. The stock used for this printing is .0075″ thick.
The postcard comes in three varieties, all of which measure approximately 5″ x 7″:
The Type A card has a “place stamp here” reverse.
The Type B card has a bulk rate permit on the back.
The Type C card has a bulk rate permit on the back and was mechanically addressed and sent to people on the Family Dog mailing list.
