Fillmore Auditorium 11/18-20/66

This elusive Grateful Dead poster was designed by Wes Wilson and rendered in an art deco style. Appearing on the bill alongside the Dead is Chicago blues legend James Cotton, as well as Lothar and The Hand People.

The original poster was printed on several different paper stocks, but all originals measure approximately 13½″ x 21⅛″. The paper used varies in thickness from .0070″ to .0090″ and there is a reasonable amount of color variation as well. This is perhaps the most difficult poster in the BG series to determine which original it might be. The one hallmark of all original printings is that they lack the line in the “T” of “Lothar” described in the second print description. 

As with the original printings, reprints come on a couple of different paper stocks also. We believe that the poster called RP-6 (and formerly called an original) in Eric King’s guide predates that known as RP-4 and feel it is correct to call the RP-6 the second print and RP-4 the third print. All reprints have a very faint horizontal line in the upper left part of the “T” in “Lothar” – this line does not appear on the originals.

The second print poster was printed on a slightly rough white stock that matches that used for the postcards and measures approximately 13 ⅜" x 21".

The third print poster was printed on uncoated index stock and measures approximately 13 ½" x 21".  

The original handbill measures approximately 5⅛″ x 7⅞″. Unlike the poster, this handbill has a white border.

The postcard was printed concurrent with the second print poster and measures approximately 5⅛″ x 7⅞″. Like the handbill, the postcard has a white border.
