Avalon Ballroom 11/3-4/66

One of the most popular of the early Family Dog posters, this carries the Family Dog logo as the central design. This poster also had two early printings, one before and one after the concert. A total of 3000 posters were produced during these two press runs and are considered to be originals. There is considerable color variation to these posters, which vary from the normal medium green to an olive green, to a very dark green. The handbills were printed in a totally different color than the posters and were printed with the incorrect dates of the concert. The handbills carry the dates 11/3-4/66 and the posters carry the dates 11/4-5/66, which was the actual date of the shows.

The Type 1 original poster was printed on vellum and measures approximately 14″ x 20″. The notation “The Bindweed Press San Francisco” appears in the lower right corner. This poster was printed in medium green ink.

The Type 2 original poster was printed on vellum and measures approximately 14″ x 20″. The notation “The Bindweed Press San Francisco” appears in the lower right corner. This poster was printed in dark green ink and is quite rare

The Type 3 original poster was printed on vellum and measures approximately 14″ x 20″. The notation “The Bindweed Press San Francisco” appears in the lower right corner. This poster was printed in olive green ink and is also quite rare.

The third print poster was printed on uncoated index stock and measures approximately 14⅛″ x 20 1/4 ″. The notation “No. 33-3” appears in the lower right corner and the Bindweed credit has been deleted.

The fourth print poster was printed on uncoated index and measures approximately 14⅛″ x 20″. The notation “No. 33-4” appears in the lower right corner.

The original handbill was printed on thin paper and measures approximately 8″ x 11″
