Straight Theater ,Grande Ballroom 3/14-16/69

This poster was designed by Gary Grimshaw and is the only image he created to advertise a show in San Francisco. Grimshaw is well known as the artist who designed countless posters and handbills for the Grande Ballroom in Detroit. This poster features the “house band” for the Grande - MC5, which may be why Grimshaw was involved with this poster. The central design features the winged white panther, symbolic of the White Panther Party - a group of Detroit-area political activists.

The original poster was printed on white stock and measures approximately 14″ x 17″. As with other posters printed by the “Rip Off Press,” these are usually poorly printed and come on both thick and thin paper stock.
