Avalon Ballroom 11/23/67

Designed by Rick Griffin, this handbill is known as the “Turkey Trot.” Griffin’s style is unmistakable in the lettering and central image of this piece. This handbill was used to promote a Family Dog show at the Avalon Ballroom that featured Big Brother and the Holding Company, as well as Mount Rushmore. The Family Dog poster designated as FD-93 also promoted these same shows.

The original handbill was printed on tan-colored medium card stock in brown ink and measures approximately 5″ x 7″.
