California Hall 4/16/67
Catalog No. AOR-2.131
This is one of the classic early posters featuring the Charlatans. This poster was designed by Michael Ferguson, pianist for the Charlatans, and features quite a whimsical portrait of the band. The Charlatans were one of the very first bands of the psychedelic period. They started a summer-long run in 1965 at the Red Dog Saloon in Virginia City, Nevada and shortly thereafter hit San Francisco in full force. While the Charlatans were not to become the powerhouse band that others of the era became, they are an important icon in the development of the psychedelic scene. This image is listed in The Art of Rock with the incorrect date of 1966 and it represents the same show as AOR 2.159 by Jack De Govia.
The original poster is printed on smooth stock and measures approximately 13⅞″ x 19⅞″.
