This Art of Rock design was created by Stanley Mouse for a Big Brother and the Holding Company show at the Matrix. The Matrix was created by Marty Balin, one of the founders of the Jefferson Airplane, and gave many bands such as Big Brother and Quicksilver Messenger Service an early venue to play in. The Matrix shows ran for nearly six years and were promoted by weekly handbills such as the one listed here.
The original poster was printed on thin coarse tan stock and measures approximately 18⅞″ x 25″.
The original handbill is printed on thin white paper in black ink and measures approximately 8″ x 11″.
