Avalon Ballroom 8/5-6/66

Catalog No. FD-19

The “Dollar Bill” was the first departure from a standard 14″ x 20″ poster size in the Family Dog series. Mouse and Kelley made a great statement with the poster, poking fun at the materialistic tendencies of a capitalistic society. The central image is the Family Dog logo of the Native American man wearing a top hat and smoking a joint. The dates of the concerts have been placed in the corners in place of the denomination and the overall effect of the poster has the appearance of money. The original print run was limited to 100 copies, and this poster is quite scarce today-especially in top condition.

The original poster was printed on white vellum and measures approximately 8″ x 20″. All originals carry a credit in the lower right corner that reads “The Bindweed Press San Francisco.”

The second print poster was printed on uncoated index stock and measures approximately 10″ x 23″. This poster deletes the Bindweed Press credit, but adds the notation “© Family Dog Productions 1725 Washington Street San Francisco” in the lower left corner.

The original handbill was printed on very thin paper and measures approximately 3″ x 8″. Numerous uncut sheets of three handbills exist. These measure approximately 8″ x 11″.
