Catalog No. MSC-CLN.1987.08.20
This is one of a series of four Artists Rights Today posters that were produced for shows from 1986 to 1989. Artists Rights Today, or A.R.T., was a short-lived project to try to legally acquire the copyrights that many poster artists had signed away in the 60s. Among others, artists wanted back the rights to the old Avalon Ballroom and Family Dog dance-hall posters. The artwork was sent around to each participating artist and it is considered a collaborative effort. As such, the print is credited to all five artists. All four of the A.R.T. posters were printed in two ways—as a numbered edition of 350 silkscreens signed by the five artists, and in a lithographed edition that was not signed.
The original silk screen poster was printed on white stock and measures approximately 20" x 26".
The original lithograph poster was printed on white stock and measures approximately 15¼" x 20½".
The original handbill was printed on white stock and measures approximately 5⅜" x 7".
