Anaheim Convention Center 6/13/75

Catalog No. AOR-4.123

This is a fun poster designed by Rick Griffin. It was used to advertise the Anaheim Youth Benefit held at the Anaheim Convention Center in 1975.

Rick Griffin grew up in Los Angeles and designing posters for events there was a natural. However, by the mid 1970s, there was not much in the way of work for the great poster artists of the 60s and early 70s. This was due in part to the fact that Bill Graham ceased production of posters in 1971, ending his long-running BG series of posters.

It is thought by many that Griffin did some of his best work around the mid-70s. Shortly after he created this poster and a couple of others, Griffin started studying Christian imagery, which led to a religious conversion that changed his art in many ways. Years later, Griffin once again designed posters for bands like the Grateful Dead.

The original poster was printed on white stock and measures approximately 15″ x 23″.

The original handbill was printed on white stock and measures approximately 5″ x 8″.
