Anderson Theater, Greenwich Village, New York 11/23/70
This famous poster was used to promote a Hell’s Angels’ event at the Anderson Theater in New York. The first printing of this poster is very rare and commands a price upwards of $3,500 in top shape. The poster was later reprinted in a smaller size and these are what you usually see on eBay.
Unfortunately, there is a new fake that is the size of the original poster. While they look fairly good, they are printed on different paper and are not silk screens. The paper used has a pebbly texture and is much thicker than the originals. These appear to have been printed by the giclée process, a digital print made on an inkjet printer. The details on the fake is mushy and differs from the originals in numerous ways.
The original poster was printed on white stock and measures approximately 23″ x 35″.
The second print poster was printed on white stock and measures approximately 15⅞″ x 24’.
The original handbill was printed on an off-white stock and measures approximately 8″ x 11″.
