Crisler Arena, Ann Arbor, MI 12/10/70
Catalog No. DET-CAU.1970.12.10
This gorgeous poster was designed by Gary Grimshaw for another John Sinclair rally—this one held at Crisler Arena in Ann Arbor, Michigan on December 10, 1970. In attendance were John Lennon (who recorded the song, John Sinclair on his Some Time in New York City album) and Yoko Ono, as well as Phil Ochs, Commander Cody, Joy of Cooking, and numerous others. Speaking were Allen Ginsberg, Jerry Rubin, Bobby Seale, and at least six more. This rally was a turning point for the Sinclair cause; three days afterwards, Sinclair was released from prison when the Michigan Supreme Court ruled that the state’s marijuana statutes were unconstitutional.
The original poster was printed on white stock and measures approximately 17" x 21¾"
The second print poster was printed on white stock and measures approximately 17" x 22". These carry a “©1993m Gary Grimshaw – All Rights Reserved” credit at the lower left.
