The other venues were College park and the Baltimore Civic Center. This poster measures approximately 14×22 and is printed on a cardboard stock and features a promo photo of Janis that was commonly used on her concert posters. Many other great acts performed at The Merriweather Post Pavilion such as Jim Morrison, The Doors, Led Zeppelin, The Who and the Jimi Hendrix Experience.

Here is a concert poster for the opening of the Fillmore East in New York City featuring Janis Joplin and Big Brother and the Holding Company. Bill Graham was the promoter and was responsible for opening the world famous Fillmore West in San Francisco. The Fillmore East was a short lived project that produced very few concert posters. While the Fillmore in San Francisco had many posters created for many of the great acts of the 1960s. This black and white poster was designed by Charles Brandywynn and features a photo of Big Brother Band with Joplin. Please note the Linda Eastman picture credit. Ms. Eastman later became Linda McCartney.

This is one of my favorite Janis Joplin concert posters. The show took place at the now defunct Alexandria Roller Rink in Alexandria, Virginia. Can you believe the world famous Jeff Beck Group was also on the bill! The poster was designed by the Maryland artist Dail Beeghly who was also designing posters for Jimi Hendrix and the Experience at the Merriweather Post in Columbia Maryland and the Hendrix concert at the Washington Hilton Hotel. He designed concert posters for Jim Morrison and the Doors at the Hilton Hotel in 1967. The Janis poster measures approximately 22×28 inches and features beautiful purplish and blue inks on a tan board background. Beeghly’s rendition of Joplin on the poster is taken from a common promotional photo. The poster was printed by Creative Signs.
