Avalon Ballroom 3/15-17/68

This very popular poster was designed by Stanley Mouse and Alton Kelley for an Avalon Ballroom show in March 1968. The Statue of Liberty motif with a teardrop is no doubt a commentary on the state of affairs at the time.

The original poster was printed on uncoated index stock and measures approximately 13⅞″ x 20″. There is substantial color variation in this printing, both in the black and red inks.

The postcard comes in three varieties, all of which measure approximately 5″ x 7″:

The Type A card has a “place stamp here” reverse.

The Type B card has a bulk rate permit on the back.

The Type C card has a bulk rate permit on the back and was mechanically addressed and sent to people on the Family Dog mailing list.
