Avalon Ballroom 11/17-19/67
Bo Diddley and Lee Michaels appeared at the Avalon Ballroom in November 1967 for this three day affair. The poster was created by high school student William Henry and is very nicely done.
The original poster was printed on uncoated index stock and measures approximately 14″ x 20⅛″. All originals have a “woven” texture on the back that matches the cards.
Second print posters have several distinguishing marks to differentiate them from the originals. They were printed two-up on uncoated index stock and do not have the “woven” texture in the stock. They are easily identifiable by a fine line surrounding the Family Dog logo. In addition, some of the reprints have a small vertical purple line in the right margin located near the lower right side of the image. The second prints measure approximately 14″ x 20″.
The postcard comes in three varieties, all of which measure approximately 5″ x 7″:
The Type A card has a “place stamp here” reverse.
The Type B card has a bulk rate permit on the back.
The Type C card has a bulk rate permit on the back and was mechanically addressed and sent to people on the Family Dog mailing list.
