Avalon Ballroom 9/29-10/1/67
Catalog No. FD-85
Designed by Stanley Mouse and Alton Kelley, this poster advertised an August 1967 show featuring Vanilla Fudge. The central image has a photograph of semi-nude woman, widely publicized to be Josephine Marcus, the wife of the famous Old West lawman, Wyatt Earp. In reality, the central image is a popular 1914 art print entitled "Kaloma."
The original poster was printed on uncoated index stock and measures approximately 14″ x 20″. The ticket outlet strip is printed in black and matches the postcard.
The second print poster was printed on uncoated index stock and measures approximately 14″ x 20⅜″. The ticket outlet strip is printed in green.
The postcard comes in three varieties, all of which measure approximately 5″ x 7″:
The Type A card has a “place stamp here” reverse.
The Type B card has a bulk rate permit on the back.
The Type C card has a bulk rate permit on the back and was mechanically addressed and sent to people on the Family Dog mailing list.
