Longshoreman's Hall 8/6/66

Nicknamed “Five Men in a Boat,” this scarce poster was printed only once, with a print run of 1,000, making it an expensive and sought-after item. These posters were printed using a split fountain process, so color variation between posters is typical. The central image includes a photograph of five men sitting in a hand-drawn row boat. The band and date information appears in lettering drawn in the shape of a yin yang symbol. The cascading shades of green, blue, rust, red, and orange on a white background combine to create a stunning visual effect.

The Type 1 original poster was printed on white vellum and measures approximately 12⅜″ x 20″.

The Type 2 original poster was printed on white vellum and measures approximately 14 ¼″ x 20″.

The original handbills come in three types:

Type A was printed on fluorescent red paper in black ink. These handbills measure approximately 6″ x 9″;

Type B was printed on fluorescent salmon colored paper in black ink. These handbills are several shades lighter in color than the Type A, and also measure approximately 6″ x 9″; and

Type C was printed on white paper in black ink and measures approximately 6″ x 9″.
