Another collaboration of design between Chet Helms and Wes Wilson, this poster features a photograph of a gorilla as the central theme and is known as “King Kong.” The Family Dog logo, created by Wilson, makes its inaugural appearance in the upper left corner on this poster.

This poster is extremely rare and it is believed that the press run was well under 500 pieces. Very few survive today, making it one of the most expensive of the Family Dog series. As with other early Family Dog posters, the second print is quite reasonably priced and easily obtainable.

The original poster was printed on a tan colored vellum stock in black ink. Both sides of this poster are tan and it measures approximately 14″ x 20″.

The second print poster is printed in tan and black ink on white index stock. The back of this poster is white and it measures approximately 14″ x 20″. This poster also carries the notation “No. 2-2” in the lower right corner.

The original handbills all measure approximately 5″ x 8 ″ and are extremely rare. There are three different varieties:

The Type A original handbill was printed on white paper in black ink;

The Type B original handbill was printed on pink paper in black ink; and

The Type C original handbill was printed on yellow paper in black ink.
