Alton Kelley created the FD-D7 image using the famous “Face on the Barroom Floor” painting that Herndon David painted at the Teller House in Central City, Colorado. It is a beautiful piece and one of the more popular pieces from the Family Dog Denver location.
The original poster was printed on uncoated index stock and measures approximately 14″ x 20″. This original has brownish-green lettering that matches the postcard.
The second print poster was printed on a slick, glossy stock and measures approvimately 14″ x 20″. This reprint has lettering that is bright gold colored.
Another reprint, done at the same time as the reprint listed above was printed on uncoated stock that is not slick. These have the bright gold colored lettering and measure approximately 14″ x 20″.
The postcards come in several types, all of which measure approximately 5″ x7″:
The Type A card has a “place stamp here” reverse that is printed in black.
The Type B card has a bulk rate permit on the back and is printed in black.
The Type C card has a “place stamp here” reverse that is printed in lavender.
The Type D card has a bulk rate permit on the back and is printed in lavender.
Additionally, both bulk rate cards were probably mechanically addressed and sent to people on the Family Dog mailing list.
