Avalon Ballroom 5/31-6/2/68

David Smith designed this interesting poster using a photograph taken by Paul Kagan as the central image. Taj Mahal, Dave Van Ronk, Family Tree, A.B. Skhy, and Creedence Clearwater Revival provided the acts for this May 31-June 2, 1968 event. These posters come in two colors—this light pink color and a second type that is blue.

The original poster comes in two varieties. Both are printed on uncoated index stock and measure approximately 13″ x 22 1/4.

The Type 1 original is printed in lavender ink.

The Type 2 original is printed in blue ink. Blue versions exist from light to very dark blue. Only the light blue was authorized by the artists. The dark blue was run by the printer without the knowledge or consent of the artists.

The postcard comes in six varieties, all of which measure approximately 5″ x 7″:

The Type A card has a “place stamp here” reverse and is printed in lavender ink.

The Type B card has a bulk rate permit on the back and is printed in lavender ink.

The Type C card in printed in lavender ink and has a bulk rate permit on the back. These were mechanically addressed and sent to people on the Family Dog mailing list.

The Type D card has a “place stamp here” reverse and is printed in dark blue.

The Type E card has a bulk rate permit on the back and is printed in dark blue.

The Type F card in printed in dark blue and has a bulk rate permit on the back. These were mechanically addressed and sent to people on the Family Dog mailing list.
