Fillmore Auditorium 6/3-4/66

The BG-9 poster was designed by Wes Wilson and features the band names in an expanding, geyser-like arrangement. The Grateful Dead was the headline act and The Mothers of Invention and Quicksilver also starred. Interestingly, a bootleg of the original poster turned up last year that was probably made more than 30 years ago. These bootlegs were so good that they turned up in a number of large collections of BG posters. The only discernible difference is a one-quarter-inch change in the image size.

The original poster was printed on white stock and measures approximately 14″ x 20″. The Union logo #72 appears in the lower left corner. 

A deceptive counterfeit exists that closely mimics the original. These can be differentiated by measuring from the upper left corner of the image above and left of the “B” in “Bill” to the lower right corner of the image below and right of the “O” in “San Francisco”. This will measure 22 29/64" on the original and 22 15/64" on the counterfeit.  

The second print poster was printed on white stock and measures approximately 14″ x 20⅛″. The union logo has been deleted and the notation “#9” appears to the right of the “O” in “San Francisco.”

The original handbill was printed on thin white paper in blue ink and measures approximately 5″ x 8″.

The postcard was printed concurrent with the second print poster and measures approximately 4″ x 6″. Some postcards have a blank back.
