BG-236 advertised San Francisco band, Country Joe & the Fish. Country Joe was a local favorite who could be counted on to give performances of everything from psychedelic freak-outs to a politically incorrect protest rally.
The original poster was printed on coated index stock and measures approximately 14″ x 21¾″. This poster was printed using a split-fountain technique.
The postcard comes in two varieties, both of which measure approximately 4⅝″ x 7″ and have a calendar of Bill Graham events on the back:
The Type A card is entirely blue.
The Type B card is blue at the bottom, blending towards yellow at the top.
A double postcard was also printed that bears the images of both BG-235 and 236 and measures approximately 7″ x 9¼″. This card has a bulk rate permit on the back and was printed entirely in yellow. In addition, some copies were addressed and mailed to people on the mailing list.
