This bizarre design by Lee Conklin features a 10-toe “choir” that came to be when Conklin was meditating and “felt his toes tingle and sing.” The poster advertised the Memorial Day weekend concerts during 1968 that were to include Buffalo Springfield, Richie Havens, and The Chambers Brothers. Buffalo Springfield, however, broke up several weeks prior to this show and played their final show on May 5, 1968 at Long Beach Arena. Albert King, who is not mentioned on the poster replaced Buffalo Springfield for these shows.
The original poster was printed on uncoated index stock and measures approximately 14″ x 21⅛″.
The postcard comes in two varieties, both of which measure approximately 4⅝″ x 7⅛″:
The Type A card has a “place stamp here” reverse.
The Type B card has a calendar of Bill Graham events on the back.
A double postcard was also printed. This card bears the images of both BG-121 and 122 and measures approximately 4⅝″ x 14⅜″. It has a bulk rate permit on the back. In addition, some copies were addressed and mailed to people on the mailing list.
