This poster features a truly psychedelic design by Lee Conklin. It takes the viewer a minute or two to decipher the artwork, but what emerges are the faces and body parts that Conklin typically used in his designs. The poster lists the shows at The Carousel Ballroom. This was the name of the venue before Bill Graham took it over and changed it to The Fillmore West.
The original poster was printed on uncoated index stock and measures approximately 14″ x 21⅛″.
The postcard comes in two varieties, both of which measure approximately 4⅝″ x 7⅛″:
The Type A card has a “place stamp here” reverse.
The Type B card has a calendar of Bill Graham events on the back.
A double postcard was also printed. This card bears the images of both BG-129 and 130 and measures approximately 4⅝″ x 14½″. It has a bulk rate permit on the back. In addition, some copies were addressed and mailed to people on the mailing list.
