Candlestick Park 8/29/66
Catalog No. AOR-1.115
By the summer of 1966, the Beatles could no longer stand the emotional, physical, and creative strain of the lengthy tours that they had been on for the previous three years. On August 29, 1966, the Beatles played their last concert at San Francisco’s Candlestick Park.
Designed by Wes Wilson, this is the only Beatles poster done in a psychedelic fashion. The print run was small - 300 according to Wes Wilson and most of the surviving copies have been well used. It is doubtful that more than 100 originals of this poster exist in any condition and anything approaching Near Mint is quite rare. In top condition, they command prices in the five figures.
This poster has been bootlegged numerous times. The only authorized reprint was done in 1992 by Artrock, in conjunction with Wes Wilson. These were printed in an edition of 2500 signed and numbered copies.
The original poster is printed on white stock and measures approximately 17" x 24 1/8".
The second print poster was printed on white stock and measures approximately 23¾" x 32½". These have a large white border on all sides. This is the signed and numbered edition referenced above.
