This poster is unmistakably the work of the one-and-only Rick Griffin. Griffin’s untimely death was a great loss to the design world. His talents were unmatched’both then and now. Griffin had an uncanny ability to create original lettering. That ability is quite apparent in this design, as well as many others. In fact, we like Griffin’s style so much that we decided to incorporate it into our logo.

This great looking poster promoted a one-day show at the University of California at Irvine that featured Captain Beefheart and His Magic Band. Many of the standard Griffin items appear in this design. Look closely and you will find the flying eyeball, a heart, a scarab, and a trash burner similar to those used on BG 140 and 141.
