Longshoreman's Hall 4/9/66
Catalog No. AOR-2.193
Known as “The Week of the Angry Arts” poster, this rare item was used to promote a concert to benefit the spring mobilization to end the war in Vietnam. The concert featured some of the best bands in the area - Sopwith Camel, Quicksilver Messenger Service, Country Joe & The Fish and Big Brother & The Holding Company. As if that were not enough, the Grateful Dead was added at the last minute and a sticker pasted to the already existing poster, creating two different types. This poster was printed on thin, fragile stock that was easily damaged. Coupled with the extremely small print run, it is easy to see why very few of these exist today.
The Type 1 original poster was printed on thin white stock and measures approximately 17″ x 22″.
The Type 2 original poster was printed on thin white stock and measures approximately 17″ x 22″. There is a small sticker in the upper right hand corner that says “Grateful Dead” in light blue ink.
