San Francisco Circa 1969

Ronald Reagan at San Francisco Circa 1969 by Unknown

Catalog No. MSC-ZZZ.1967.01.02

RReagan was a very unpopular governor among the counterculture and many political protest posters have his image on them. This one probably came about as a reference to the high-profile conflict on May 15, 1969 during the People’s Park protests at UC Berkeley when Reagan sent the California Highway Patrol and other officers to quell the protests. The incident became known as “Bloody Thursday.” Directly after this, Reagan deployed 2,200 National Guard troops to occupy the city of Berkeley for two weeks in order to stop the protests.

The original poster was printed on white stock and measures approximately 16" x 22".
