Vulcan Gas Company 2/21-22/69

Fugs at Vulcan Gas Company 2/21-22/69 by Jim Franklin

Catalog No. AOR-3.125

BBy 1968, the West Coast psychedelic scene had made its way to Texas. A group of students at the University of Texas at Austin formed a cooperative venture that resulted in the opening of the Vulcan Gas Company, the state’s first psychedelic dance establishment. This venue booked mainly local talent, but some more famous acts played there while on tour.

The handbill is prominently displayed in “The Art of Rock” and was used to promote a show by the New York band, the Fugs.

The original handbill was printed on thin white paper and measures approximately 8″ x 11″.

Jim Franklin
