CCream is widely regarded as the world’s first notable super group and its impact on the popular music of the time is legendary. Formed in 1966, the lineup consisted of Eric Clapton, Ginger Baker, and Jack Bruce. By the time Cream was formed, Clapton had gained a reputation as the premier blues guitarist in Britan, having played with John Mayall's Bluesbreakers and The Yardbirds. Baker and Bruce had both been with the Graham Bond Organization, but they had a volatile relationship there, and ultimately Baker fired Bruce from the band—at one point chasing him away at knifepoint. The friction between Bruce and Baker would break up Cream after a little more than two years in existence. The final U.S. appearance was on November 4, 1968 at the Rhode Island Auditorium. There were two farewell concerts at Royal Albert Hall on November 26. Cream released four studio albums, including Wheels of Fire, which topped the U.S. charts. Cream was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1993 and the group reunited to perform at the ceremony. This led to Cream reunion shows in 2005 at Royal Albert Hall and Madison Square Garden.
