OOpened on July 17, 1967 at the Moore Gallery in San Francisco, the Joint Show was the first of its kind. It featured the so called “big five” of the prominent psychedelic poster artists, all displayed at a single show. Each of the five artists, Wes Wilson, Rick Griffin, Victor Moscoso, Alton Kelley and Stanley Mouse created a poster exclusively for this show. These works of art are listed in “The Art of Rock” as numbers 2.347 - 2.351.

The printing history of these posters has been confused by some and much has been lost to history. All Joint Show posters were printed on three different paper stocks. The first was a glossy coated index stock; the second was a textured vellum stock and the third was a foil stock. Some of the glossy stock posters had the addition of the notation “first edition 1200” printed on them and were produced to promote interest in both the show and the posters. These, as well as the un-numbered type were printed prior to the show and both are considered to be originals. Norman Moore had some additional posters printed on glossy stock one month after the show; they are indistinguishable from the un-numbered ones printed before the show. No joint show posters were printed after August, 1967.

These marvelous posters were printed in large format - the Wilson is the largest and measures approximately 25″ x 37″, while the rest measure approximately 22″ x 28″.
