TThis might be one of the best-looking posters featuring the Doors; the central design is a photo of Jim Morrison surrounded by reclining women with flowing hair. This was one of several Folk-Rock Festivals held at the Santa Clara County Fairgrounds in 1968 and 1969. This particular festival had a great lineup of bands, including the Doors, Jefferson Airplane, Big Brother & The Holding Company and others. Not listed in “The Art of Rock” is a corresponding handbill produced by KYA radio with the current hit parade on the back and a list of the performers on the front.
The original poster was printed on two different white stocks — one thin and one thick. The thicker stock version seems to be a bit scarcer, but the detail is not as fine on thick stock either. Both versions measure approximately 14″ x 21″.
The KYA handbill was printed on off-white stock and measures approximately 6″ x 9½″.
